The sea is still flat calm and it's still foggy. We are now near Canada and four hours behind British Summer Time.
We again had a lightish breakfast in the buffet. Morning entertainment was a quiz. Today's answers began with the letter V and we got 18/20. We met a lovely couple from Melbourne, Carol and Howard, and they suggested we met for afternoon tea so we could chat some more.
We then went to a talk about the conspiracy theories surrounding the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. It was in Illuminations – a second theatre which double as the planetarium - and when we got there it was already jam-packed but we managed to find a perch.
We came back to our cabin to find we had finally got our half bottle of bubbly that had been in the cabin on the first day on our previous Cunard cruises.
After lunch, which we skipped, it was another quiz. This one was music. We did OK with 32/40 but nowhere near the top of the pile. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on Cunard ships with a lot of groups of six people (the maximum allowed).
You have to get to the Queen's Room early for afternoon tea. People start gathering at least 30 mins before the start time. We met up with the Aussies and had a lovely chat. They had travelled a lot and had a very similar outlook on the world as us. They said that we were the first couple they had clicked with. Although retired, they own a business and a number of racehorses and have been on an extended tour around the world. They had been at Aintree for all three days of the Grand National meet. After the US they said they were going to South Africa and then back home again.
Quick shower and change for 1920s night was next. We cracked open our free bubbly and then to dinner. It was great to see what a lot of people had made the effort to dress up and there were some amazing outfits.
We had dinner next to a lovely couple from Bournemouth and a female solo traveller who was very keen on dancing and who was just completing her fifth world cruise but her first on Cunard! When asked if she had any more cruises booked she said that she would be on board Cunard’s Queen Anne in 2025 for her maiden world cruise.
She said she loved the dancing on board and she certainly
made the most of the gentleman dancers at the gala ball and hardly sat one
dance out.
